What is WitchCraft?
WitchCraft is a pro-active, Earth-centered belief system that honors all life.
For myself and my children, it has become a living course in miracles. It hasn't always been easy -- not because
of the belief system itself, but because of other people's perception of it. My children learned early on what
discrimination was all about. They discovered that people around them feared anything different, and when people
fear something, they act in ignorance.
Whenever anyone asks me, "What is Wicca?" all kinds of things flood
into my mind -- summarizing Wicca in a few short words is really hard to do. How do I tell someone that my life
is filled with love, beauty, joy, harmony, and peace? Will they believe me? Most likely not, because those
things seem so hard to attain. So, I could discuss for days what Wicca is or is not, and meanwhile the best basic
answer to the question that I can give is this:
WitchCraft is a nature-based, life-affirming belief system that follows
a moral code and seeks to build harmony among people which in its process empowers the self and others. Its
magick is nothing more than an advanced understanding of quantum physics melded with spirituality.
We could,
in fact, use that statement for a wide variety of beliefs. What makes those of us who believe in Wicca different?
Actually, we aren't so different, but we do celebrate free, individual thought, and don't just follow the crowd without
thinking. Wiccan Witches also have a close connection with the world around them -- plants and animals as well
as people. We commune with Nature, from the sky to the rocks under our feet. To us, every single thing on
the Earth is a manifestation of the Divine. If you haven't read the Principles of Belief yet, you might want
to click on the link as this is one document that all Witches share in common.
